was great!
We met my family at Sweetwaters in Selma for lunch before my grandparents hit the road back home to Florida. We ate and had cheesecake to celebrate. David and I spent the evening in our pajamas doing some housework and watching movies. It's not glamorous, but at 29 I guess you're too old for glamour. :) Next year, I hit the big 3-0. I say bring it on. The first 29 have been a blast. I can't wait to see what the next 30 will bring!

Cohen's First Christmas
Cohen's first Christmas was wonderful. He got way more than he should have and my living room floor proves it. He loves his activity wall and tunnel. You would never know he wasn't walking yet by the way he pushes his walker. Mom thinks he'll be walking within a month. Of course he loves his Bounce and Spin Zebra. He loves anything with "bounce" in it. Good job mom! Cohen loves to play with balls. His soccer ball is his favorite. It's interesting that we got him a toy that comes with four little balls that you hammer in and watch them fall through a maze back down to the bottom. Cohen loves to carry around and play with the litttle yellow ball that came with that set. And for some reason, he prefers the yellow one. He has been playing so hard that he's taken lots of naps. I'll try to post some Christmas photos soon!

Bronchiolitis
Cohen was diagnosed with bronchiolitis today, Monday, Dec. 18, 2006. This means his little air way is inflamed and swollen and filled with mucous.
He has a fever, coughing, loss of appetite, vomiting, and difficulty breathing. Dehydration is a huge concern during this time. He's drinking fluids, but certainly not the amount he would normally consume.
He sounds terrible. You can hear him struggle to breathe. His little nose is scabbed because it's so raw from being running or stuffy. It stays crusted with mucous which hinders his breathing further. (Tonight, I removed what looked like a corn flake from his nose. ugghh...)He coughs so hard it makes him puke sometimes.
There is little you can do treat Bronchiolitis. Antibiotics don't work because it's a viral infection. We have to just wait it out while his body fights it off. We can treat his symptoms with cough medicine, Tylenol, plenty of fluids and a humidifer, all of which we are doing.
The majority of infants who have this get well on their own and require no medical treatment. A small percentage, however, may have to be hospitalized if breathing worsens or if dehydration occurs.
Cohen is a sick little boy, but he's handling it very well and is still able to have some fun amid his illness. Please pray he'll be well before he develops a more serious case of the illness. He was sick over Thanksgiving, I pray he'll be well for Christmas.

The tooth
I finally saw it--Cohen's first tooth!! Bottom and center. He's less than a week away from being 10-months-old and this is the first tooth. Of course, he's so uncooperative there could be other teeth in there and nobody would know. Gumming it hasn't slowed him down any.
A single tooth--how exciting!!

Baby Velcro
Cohen cried the entire way to school today. He did stop crying while I carried him inside, but he started again once I sat him down. I blamed this on teething. He has no teeth yet but I can feel the teething "bumps". Therefore, anytime we experience unexplained crying, I blame it on teething. This theory worked right up until lunch time. I went to visit Cohen and I took him to the Medical Mall to see the Festival of Trees. We heard an elementary school choir and saw Santa. Cohen wore his frog toboggin and turned into part of the entertainment. I'm very glad we went. We had a great time together. It was when I took him back to school that I realized he had developed that Baby Cling. Every time I tried to leave, he climbed up and held on to me like velcro. When I finally sat him down and moved toward the door, he threw himself down on his back and did a scream and roll. That's exactly how I left him--screaming and rolling around on the floor. In a way, it's endearing he doesn't want you to leave him. But, I think Baby Cling is unhealthy so he better get used to being apart. It was actually easier to leave than I expected. We'll see what happens in the morning......

Busted Grill
It took 9.5 months for Cohen to get his first bloody lip. I'm surprised it took that long. After all, he is David Burnette's son. If he's anything like his father, this will just be the first of many. Those Burnette daredevils!! We were on the front porch putting up Christmas decorations while Cohen was playing with a small box. The box slid out from under his hands and he landed on his face, more specifically, on his upper lip. It really didn't look that bad, but I picked him up and comforted him. He screamed and I told him to stop being a drama king until I saw the puddle of blood on his chin. Once I got him cleaned up, I realized his lip was the source of all the blood. It swelled, but it's ok now. Boys, boys, boys.....
