Baby Velcro
Cohen cried the entire way to school today. He did stop crying while I carried him inside, but he started again once I sat him down. I blamed this on teething. He has no teeth yet but I can feel the teething "bumps". Therefore, anytime we experience unexplained crying, I blame it on teething. This theory worked right up until lunch time. I went to visit Cohen and I took him to the Medical Mall to see the Festival of Trees. We heard an elementary school choir and saw Santa. Cohen wore his frog toboggin and turned into part of the entertainment. I'm very glad we went. We had a great time together. It was when I took him back to school that I realized he had developed that Baby Cling. Every time I tried to leave, he climbed up and held on to me like velcro. When I finally sat him down and moved toward the door, he threw himself down on his back and did a scream and roll. That's exactly how I left him--screaming and rolling around on the floor. In a way, it's endearing he doesn't want you to leave him. But, I think Baby Cling is unhealthy so he better get used to being apart. It was actually easier to leave than I expected. We'll see what happens in the morning......

Maybe you should buy him a crown...
This morning, Seth found the stick part of a toy golf club. He used it as a warning for the dog to stay away from his poptart. He used the end as a cutter for his poptart and left poptart polka dots everywhere. He used it to put pieces of his poptart in and ate from the tip of it like a fork. He then became the leader of the band and marched and twiled it. He led Emma and I from the hostile kitchen area to the living room holding it front of him making gun noises as he slowly walked in a crouched position, looking for the enemy dog again. I was shocked at the amount of imagination he had and the fact that my little baby boy was pretending he had a gun and a weapon. He was air fighting even.
But then, when it was time to go to school, my little Rambo spread a small silky out on the floor. He put a smaller silky on top, then his sippy cup, and then Emma's Princess Arial crown that he loves. He wrapped everything in the outside silky and took it all to school.
The reason any of this pertains to your Baby Velcro story is that, on more mornings than I would like, Seth also has that Baby Velcro tendency. This morning was one of those mornings. All I had to do to smooth the velcro was to hand him his crown. The crying immediately stopped and when I left he was in his teacher's lap wearing the crown.
